Recurrent Aphthous Ulceration (RAU) affects approximately 20% of the population. Ulcers heal typically within 10–14 days with pain which can affect nutritional inputs. The cause of RAU is contentious: many Authors reported a sort of immunological deficiency.

Uncaria Tomentosa is a well-known medical plant which has been used for many centuries in the tropical areas of the South America. The plant has many interesting medical properties in healing processes and in immunological therapy.

Materials and Methods: our clinical study was performed with a mixture of Uncaria Tomentosa mother tincture and a glucose solution 5% treated by electro-magnetic waves. 36 patients, affected by RAU, were selected. 2 drops of the solution were applied directly on the ulcers 3 times a day.

Results: pain decreased immediately and healing was completed in only 2 days in all cases. No side effects were reported. These dates suggest that the new product could be a very useful tool in the RAU therapy. Further studies and clinical trials will be needed to confirm our early results.
